Can i use my home phone (rj11) plugged in my computer modem to make VOIP calls (through a VOIP provider)?

in other words… can i plug my rj11 phone in computer modem to use it like "microphone and speaker" to talk through voip provider installed on my computer??

    You need to have a voice modem, fxo adapter, or telephony board to be able to plug your phone into your computer. Without knowing what you have I am going to guess that the answer is probably no and that you would need to purchase something else to allow you to do this.

    Nope!

    VoIP uses specific phones which are like small computers that gets an IP address, codify voice into a standart protocol, and sends the data over a connection like ADSL, SHDSL, … An analog phone can’t be used for VoIP.

    There are also some "phones" which require the computer to be on and with a software that sends the call data to the VoIP provider and a device that converts voice into data, I guess that it is the cheapest way to make calls over VoIP available now.
