I need a simple home office PBX that works with analog wired phones.?

Asked by: 18 views , , , , , , , , ,

Can someone recommend a PBX for my needs? I have a home office with one incoming land line. I don’t what to change my phone plan nor my number. But I’d like to have an automated attendant that I can record (e.g. "Thank you for calling Acme Anvil Co. For Eric, press 1. For Samantha, press 2) and then be able to connect the wired telephones that I already have to "line one" and "line 2." I’m not worried about a high volume of calls, so the one incoming line is fine.
I definitely don’t want a PC or software-based system – A simple standalone box is fine. (I don’t need VOIP or cordless handsets, detailed data on the calls, or anything complex). thanks

I suspect that by looking at PBX options you may end up paying more than you expect and getting less than you want. At the end of the day I’d recommend you compare costs with a Panasonic KX-TG6702B. It’s not what your asking for, but it sounds like the thing you need.

If you only have one phone line, but want to sound like a large company, then I’d recommend you get a virtual PBX system from either RingCentral, iTeleCenter, or eVoiceReceptionist. All will provide you with a toll free number and the extension feature will ring any number of your choice. But if your 2 wired phones are both on the same line, there is no way to tell it to ring one or the other. What you should do is to get a distinctive ring from your phone company. Then "line 1" could be your normal number and "line 2" would be the distinctive ring number. It would ring in on the same line as #1, but with a different ring sound, so you’d know if the call was for Eric or Samantha.
