phone system for small buisness?

im looking for a good phone system for 3 lines and 5 phones i can install myself. somthing that plugs into a lan with software i can set up myself

    Wow. A tall order. Do you want to roll your own software, or buy something already configured?

    The 3×5 configuration is so small that you could just grab a digital phone system and add whatever you need. No overhead on your LAN and a fairly inexpensive and reliable system. You lose VoIP or SIP service, but that can be added to a traditional key system like an NEC-DSX-40 for not a lot of cash.

    One of the "plug and play" systems is a KONNECT unit. It’s about $300 per set and can use both SIP and POTS lines. Expansion is linear, you just keep shelling out $300 for each set. http://konnectoffice.com/konnect-office-phone-system

    Of course at that size, it’s also easy to buy a small server and add $120 SIP sets. My favorite is the Cortelco YeaLink units.
